Disturbing News

Postby Dr. Kennigan » Mon May 24, 2010 9:54 pm

The door to the social club bursts open. Dr. Kennigan hurriedly enters, looking back over his shoulder.

"I'm afraid I have a bit o' disturbing news. Leichemacher's body... well, I took it down to the old funerary room of the asylum. As you might expect, I didn't have the time then and there to either bury or cremate my friend, so I locked the corpus in one of the mortuary drawers. As soon as I'd finished helping you against that Marcus fellow, I went back down and... well, the drawer was opened. Violently, and from the inside."

He glances up from the book in his hands titled "The Casebook of Nathaniel Maxwell". "I believe Dr. Sinclare has had similar experiences. Though this does seem much more unsettling. Of course he did uses his last moments while we battered down the door to stick himself with something."

:Ettie pauses in her lucet braiding and frowns.:

and "science screams for joy this day": she quotes from Leichemacher's notes.:
At least he has finally found a research subject that can give informed consent....

:she makes a face and stands to walk to Dr. Kennigan: still and all he will probably not be satisified with just the one, so we should probably round him up before he starts doing the same to us.

Anton starts to breathe heavily as he puts his drink down, "You mean I fired two rounds into mans chest only so he can come back from dead?!? I don't think I have mentioned it but I really do not like this evil doctor."

"Phenex above... what has that man done to himself?

Emily looks up from a table off to one side, listening. A look of confusion crosses her face.

"I'm sorry, I don't understand." She says in a voice that is clearly delivered with concern, but only succeeds in sounding bored. "I don't recall hearing that name before. And I was there in Shadeheath as well. Who is this man, and why is he no longer dead?"

Leichemacher is the man behind the infection. In the interest of creating a supply of mindless research subjects, he tricked, cajoled, kidnapped, and attacked us and the townsfolk of Greyhook and Shadeheath.

He was in the locked office in the asylum. While many of us were fighting off the infected, a smaller group managed to open the lock, enter the office, and kill Leichemacher.

:Ettie looks at Dr. Kennigan, her expression softening for a moment before the frown returns:

The reason we think he may be alive again is that, in addition to mind control; the good doctors here were also working on reanimation. Given that we know Leichemacher injected himself with something just before he died, and now that his body has disappeared, it seems likely that he was combining his research disciplines.

“Hardly, Mr. Beckett. Everything comes to an end… eventually; Pretium vita est nex. One must do what one can to endure, and face these challenges that the Almighty has set before us. To allow yourself to give into despair, or frustration only feeds it further. What is that old term used in Elenzian politics? Ah yes: “Don’t get mad, get even”. I think it boasts some merit in this situation too. Rather than get preoccupied on the nature of the situation, perhaps we should instead focus upon just how he managed such an atrocity against the Almighty, and to take preventive measures to ensure it does not happen again.”

"I second that, Father," says the Shield, with his face hidden under the shade of his hood. He sits at an unlit table and covers his mouth with a cloth as he coughs violently before resuming his work of cleaning his revolver. "His creations seem to be nothing but pure madness. What good could possibly come from this? We must pray to Phenex that this madman's end will be hastened, not postponed. The time for mercy is over."
